Why wasn’t Steam free to begin with?
When we initially launched Steam, the free version of AI Dungeon was ad-supported. Steam doesn’t allow ad-supported games on its platform, so we decided to launch Steam as a one-time purchase for Unlimited Griffin AI.
In the months since we launched on Steam, our AI costs have come down enough that we can finally offer an ad-free play experience for free players, something that seemed unimaginable when we launched.
