Our view on the Audible lawsuit
It’s unclear what the outcome of this lawsuit is, and the people Amazon settled with were charged with the wrong payment method. Since Amazon is still removing credits after people cancel, it’s clear it isn’t unlawful but simply something people were unhappy with.
Unlike Audible, where the primary member value is in credits you receive each month, AI Dungeon members get many more benefits than Gold. Members are not forced to purchase or hoard Gold. They can opt into trading Credits or Scales for Gold if the additional rewards beyond the 2000 Gold cap are attractive to them, or they can keep their scales for other things. Players retain a lot of that Gold after unsubscribing, so if they resubscribe, they have plenty of Gold for using Dragon. That said, we’ll keep an eye on this and see where it goes.
